What is the Valhalla Gala?
The Valhalla Gala is a Submission Grappling Grand Pix tournament with the finals being held August13th at the Bossanova Ballroom. The All proceeds from the event will go to the Judo John Fund, a foundation to help Athletes and Coaches with life threatening illnesses. The intent of the Valhalla Gala is to find out which Gym has the most dominant team of grapplers.
Skill Level
The Valhalla Gala is an open skill level tournament held with the intent to find the best team . Keep in mind that even thought this tournament is open to grapplers of all skill levels, the level of competition will be high. Most competitors of the Valhalla Gala would fall into the Advanced or Expert level of skill.
Teams
Teams will be made up of 9 competitors spanning 8 different divisions for men and an open division for women. Any weight competitor can compete in any higher weight class however a competitor can only grapple in two separate divisions (any grappler can compete in up to two separate divisions per night).

Feather 120 - 134.9 lbs
Light 135 - 149.9 lbs
Welter 150 - 164.9 lbs
Middle 165 - 179.9 lbs
Light Heavy 180 - 194.9 lbs
Heavy 195 - 209.9 lbs
Super heavy 210+ lbs
Women’s Open weight
Competitors will be asked to be weigh in at least 24 hours before the weigh in. An open weigh in will be help on the night before every competition. A competitor is not obligated to attend this weigh-in, however if they do not they will be asked to weigh-in prior to competing. All competitors must make weight within 24 hours of competition.
Entrance\Registration
Invitations will be given to select gyms\dojos for a participation in this event. It will be each individual gyms responsibility to fill their roster. A minimum for 4 male competitors and 1 female competitor will be required from each team. Please keep that competitors should be active members of the gyms\dojos they represent. (If Marcello Garcia is part of your team he should be working out at your gym at least once a week).
Each team will need to pay a $250 registration fee for the tournament. If your team advances to the finals there are no additional fees. 100% of all proceeds go to the Judo Jon fund, a charity set up to help MMA fighters and coaches during a serious illness.
Tournament\Competition Format
Quarter Finals\Semi Finals will be held on July 24th and 31st.
Finals will be held on August 13th @ Bossanova Ballroom
Teams will be notified of their quarter final competition date upon registration.
Please note that Quarter Final and Semi Final competition will take place on the same day for each team.
Winning Team of the finals at the Bossanova Ballroom will receive a championship trophy, The Valhalla Gala Battle Axe. (Yeah! The Trophy is a MotherF*@$ing Battle Axe!)
Purpose
All proceeds will be given to the Judo Jon Fund, a foundation to help Althletes and Coaches with life threatening illnesses. 100% proceeds from this event will go directly to “Judo” Jon Kron to help finance his current fight against Brian Cancer.
